The Netflix series *Squid Game 2* has become a global phenomenon, topping the charts in 93 countries, including the U.S., Japan, and France, for five straight days. However, the series is facing backlash in Vietnam, where there are calls for a boycott, and the Vietnamese Film Authority has launched an official review. According to local reports, the controversy in Vietnam centers around a scene featuring a conversation between the main character Gi Hun's friend, Jeong Bae (played by Lee Seo Hwan), and his junior, Dae Ho, a former marine. In the scene, Dae Ho (played by Kang Ha Neul) says, "My father sent me to (the Marines) to toughen me up. He was a Vietnam War veteran," to which Jeong Bae responds, "Your father must be an honorable man."
This comment sparked outrage among some Vietnamese viewers, who felt it was insensitive to depict South Korean (ROK) soldiers from the Vietnam War as "honorable." Many took to social media to condemn the show and demand a boycott.
In response to the growing controversy, the Vietnamese Film Authority has initiated a review of *Squid Game 2*, with an official decision expected to be announced soon.
