    Last March 12 IFPI’s Global Album sales chart announced the top 10 best-selling album of 2020

    The biggest boy band in the world BTS is the winner on IFPI’s Global Album sales chart for their album “Map of the Soul: 7” according to IFPI, the album “saw incredible sales all over the world and broke the all-time sales record in the band’s home country of South Korea.” Also their two other albums “BE (Deluxe Edition) and “Map of the Soul: 7 ~ The Journey ~” also scores No.2 & 8 spot in the top 10 respectively. The Chief Executive Frances Moore of IFPI shared “BTS’ success across IFPI’s global charts—including the top two positions in this chart—is unprecedented and demonstrates the amazing global appeal of their music. We would like to congratulate the band once again on such a successful year.”


    While BLACKPINK 1st Studio Album “The Album,” which was released in October of 2020 debut at No.5 on the IFPI’s Global Album Chart. BLACKPINK "THE ALBUM" is the best-selling girl group album in South Korean history, beating out "My Dear" by Pearl Sisters, a record the latter has had since 1968, and lastly broke S.E.S's 21-year-old record of the best-selling album by a K-pop group.


    SHINee announced plans about their upcoming online concert next month. From riding the momentum of their new album “Don’t Call Me”. SHINee has announced plans to hold virtual concert next month. According to SM Entertainment ‘SHINee WORLD’ will set place on April 4 virtually through online performance platform ‘Beyond LIVE’. This platform was launched by SM Entertainment in collaboration with Naver last year. It marks as SHINee’s first-ever online concert and also their first group concert of any kind in over three years: SHINee last held a group concert in February 2018, when they took the stage in Japan for their “SHINee WORLD THE BEST 2018 FROM NOW ON” concert tour. Tickets for the group upcoming online concert will be available for pre-sale starting on March 18.


    Two Indonesian rappers BAP. and Basboi join together for an intense mix-single. BAP. and Basboi join together for an intense maxi-single of “Songs to Begal to”. The single contain two tracks titled ‘Begal’ and ‘Post Begal’, launched exclusively on Indonesian music sales platform The Store Front Friday, March 12. ‘Begal’, is a knocking rap track that you can preview on said music platform. While ‘Post Begal’, on the other hand, is on the woozy, moody end on the hip-hop spectrum and ends with a jazzy outro. According to a press release it aims to be an antithesis to the current global climate, and touches on both artists’ financial, physical, and mental state.


    Malaysian indie rock quartet “Alien Lipstick Fire” released their latest single, ‘Mongol Fang’. The psychedelic track, released on March 12, is the band’s first song to release this year and also this their follow-up to December single ‘Phasing In’ last year. Alien Lipstick Fire have been open about emulating Bombay Bicycle Club and Tame Impala, and ‘Mongol Fang’ captures those inspirations perfectly. Alien Lipstick Fire was formed in 2016 and toured the local circuit extensively leading up to their first release in 2018. The band have since grown a following from their tracks such as ‘Different Days’ and ‘Can’t Sleep’.


    SB19 made an explosive comeback for their new single “What?” The P-POP Boy Group finally back with their latest single “What?”, since then the group made an impressive YouTube record for a P-POP Boy Group. Their music video for “What?” is the most-viewed P-pop Group music video in first 24 hours of it’s released on the platform with 1.4 million views. The group set the Philippines first ever p-pop group music video to reach one million views in 24 hours and most viewed P-pop group of all-time on YouTube with more than with more than 92.29 million total views in their official channel on the platform.


    BLACKPINK ROSÉ made a record-breaking debut solo. ROSÉ made a successful solo debut on March 12, 2021. Before her official solo debut last March 9, 2021, ROSÉ Sets Female K-Pop Soloist Record with Stock Pre-Orders for Solo Debut with more than 400,000 copies. Now the “R” ALBUM is the highest stock pre-orders achieved by a female soloist in Korea. This number is a sum of orders from not only Korea, but also many other regions including China, Southeast Asia, United States, Japan, and Europe. The amount is expected to increase even further as a few more days stills remain until the album’s release.

    ROSÉ also Sweeps iTunes Charts Across the Globe With her Solo Debut Track “On the Gound”. The title track achieves number 1 on iTunes song chart in 57 countries, including the United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Spain, France, Greece, Portugal, Turkey, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and more.

    And lastly the Music video for “On the Ground” set a new record for the highest number of views achieved by a K-pop soloist’s music video in its first 24 hours with 39,062,601 views. But if YouTube confirms the said number, ROSÉ officially broke the previous record set PSY in 2013 with more than 36 million views 8 years ago.
