Belift Lab, the agency behind ILLIT taken legal action against former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin, demanding 2 billion KRW in damages

The first court hearing for lawsuits against Min Hee Jin took place on January 10th. Belift Lab sued her for damages, claiming she defamed their rookie girl group, ILLIT, by falsely accusing them of plagiarizing NewJeans' choreography. Source Music also sued her for a separate 500 million KRW.

Belift Lab argued that Min Hee Jin maliciously targeted ILLIT to promote herself, causing emotional distress to the members. Min Hee Jin's defense claimed her statements were made in good faith to address legitimate plagiarism concerns and protect NewJeans, following public accusations and media scrutiny. Both sides will present visual evidence of the choreography at the next hearing on March 7th to support their arguments.

Min Hee Jin previously accused ILLIT of plagiarizing NewJeans in various aspects, including choreography and styling. Belift Lab denied these claims and filed both civil and criminal lawsuits against Min Hee Jin. Belift Lab CEO Kim Tae Ho also publicly denied the accusations during a National Assembly hearing and apologized for the public dispute. Min Hee Jin countersued Belift Lab for 5 billion KRW, claiming their accusations were false and demanding they be held accountable for damages.
